I'm not sure the distinction between being in the same room or a different room is important. I understand that it's there to illustrate that the recipient may be elsewhere on the MUCK, but this could also be a line that says: 'The recipient may be anywhere on the MUCK (i.e. they don't have to be in the same room).'
