SpinDizzy, a text-based multi-user world running Fuzzball MUCK server, is a continent-sized, flat chunk of planetoid flying through space with a multitude of varied lands. The themes of its inhabitants vary by inclination and aesthetics, from village and forest dwellers, to fantasy and magic, and even post-scarcity, high-tech metropolitans, among many others. Its inhabitants play with and against each other in all manner of imaginative role plays and also have fun socializing.
Among the many types of people you’ll encounter are humans of various sorts, animals of anthropomorphic or zoomorphic shape, machines, living cartoons, walking balloons, and all manner of other configurations, limited only by whimsy and imagination. You could think of SpinDizzy as a friendly, fun place where all sorts of imaginations come together!
Additionally, SpinDizzy offers regular public events and role plays, a friendly staff, a newspaper, and much more! If this all sounds like fun to you, why not give us a try?

Happy Founders Day!
I haven't been around for most of this place's history, but I've gathered from exploring Charter Park and conversations with older community members that Spindizzy really is something special. It is, by a long shot, the most enduring and impressive community I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of.
Bad planning on my part means I didn't have time to learn about and prepare a proper celebration for Founders Day. I hope you all enjoy the day regardless, you should be proud of what you've built. I'll be hanging out in Charter Park if you have any history you wish to share- It might be shared with Mako for the museum she's planning.

To folks thinking about becoming ham radio ops
This might be a good time to try joining the ranks of people into ham radio. QRZ is offering a New Ham Welcome Package, including a basic handheld transceiver, to people joining the hobby:
I don't qualify, of course, but I'm not active either really. Still, there's more ham furries than you imagine and this might be a chance to leave aside your hobby of yelling at your computer for not working and get a new hobby of yelling at your radio for not working!
What the pronouns are
I should have thought to list these. We are working on a tool to show what the set for any of the built-in pronoun families are. The ones we have set up right now are:
Gender Pronoun Set
fluff female shy/hyr/hym/hyrself/hyr
fluff male hy/hym/hys/hymself/hys
The 'fluff male' and 'fluff female' are a callback to ancient muck days, reflecting characters who felt themselves asexual but still aligned to male or female traits. It is not difficult to add new sets, as needed, or to adjust these as reflects actual use. I do not know what (eg) the plush community is hoping for. When there's an expressed preference we'll adjust to match.
Setting your pronouns
SpinDizzy, like any Fuzzball muck, makes it straightforward to set one's own pronouns. We are working on some tools to make it easier to set your and to learn other's pronouns. As one can check by entering 'help pronouns' there are five separate cases one can set: subject, object, possessive, reflexive, and absolute case. One generally sets this by setting the %s, %o, %p, %r, or %a properties on oneself. And these can be saved with a morph.
You can also set pronounces to shift with your current sex/gender property. For example, if you wanted that any time your gender should be 'toy' you should be referred to as 'it', while any time you your gender should be 'fairy' you should be 'fae', you could:
We have a handful of these pronoun sets put in as system-wide defaults. Right now, SpinDizzy has 'bot', 'fluff female', 'fluff male', 'none', and 'plush'. ('None' as in literally setting one's sex/gender as 'none'; the system doesn't let us interpret a blank the way we want.) These are not meant to be a finished set. We-the-wizards are hoping to add more as we learn what popular sets are, and how to tag them. Please let us know what would be convenient.
Although not a pronoun, people might enjoy setting their nickname property, %n, which replaces some uses of a person's name with whatever they prefer.
Wiki editors: This will be the front page that will eventually replace www.spindizzy.org . Please put all of your stuff under sub-pages, and provide only a handful of thoughtful links here that lead to the main help and support pages. And of course, try and work together to make this a success; avoid stepping on each others toes if you can help it. -- Morticon
If you want an account to edit the wiki, thank you! Only with a broad group of editors will this become a useful, living resource. Contact Morticon or Ping in-game to ask for an account. We'd also like to know what you're interested in doing with the wiki. -- Lepus
Note that your username on the wiki is case-sensitive, unlike on the MUCK. Use the proper capitalization to log in. -- Claude 2017-09-28 23:24:45
