You sit on a street luge (it resembles a long skateboard) and zip directly there!
S5 W7 City Hall(#212RL)
City Hall is a transparent, slightly dome wide-set at its base, with the swirling patterns of half-started spectrums swirling around the flimsy shell. The shell itself seems almost to breathe, as it flexes in the breeze and the changes of the people around it. A copper arch marks the most fixed spot and the easiest entrance to the hall.

Around the globe a sparkling array of smaller globes cling to the exterior, each an office or a room or department, and these rooms swirl around as if to off-vertical ferrous wheels on a structure imitating a soap bubble.

The park outside City Hall softly rises and falls, with spots of leaves and flowers of all colors popping into and out of being easily, and more rarely but still sometimes shrubs or bushes or even the odd tree makes it appearance, or exit, quietly but ever changing the light of the center.
Stars still shine in the dark western sky, but they fade around the zenith, and the sky turns blue with a ribbon of red on the eastern horizon. It's something like 7 am.

Tubelynx scurries around looking for something or someone to climb.

BunnyHugger clears her throat and stands as tall as she's able, which is perhaps two feet.

Rifter looks in confusion at the voting program.
Rifter chirps, "Who decided that vote numbers wouldn't go '1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...' but '1, 10, 11, 12, 13, ...'?"
BunnyHugger says, "We will schedule an Inauguration soon, once the outgoing Mayor and the Mayor-Elect and Vice-Mayor-Elect have conferred with me on scheduling. Probably within a week."

A floating disk, divided into pie wedges, with every colour of the rainbow taking its turn in each spot, approaches you. You step on, and are carried away... by the time you're able to hop off, you find yourself in
Olympic Stadium(#23930RL)
From inside, it's obvious that the stadium was grown from a bush. The entirety of the structure, the walls, the hallways, the seats, are made of wood covered with smooth durable bark. The branches of the crown bend inward over the stadium, shading it from the snow and cold. Educational <plaques> here and there discourse upon the botanical nature of the stadium.

The stadium is currently leafless for the winter season, but the dense wood provides reasonable insulation against the cold outside.

At south end of the field, separate from the shrub, a cantilevered lighting <tower> rises, gleaming white, narrowing as it leans out over the stadium. The lighting head is a large oval, centred over the field, too bright to look at when it's lit. At the other end is the <cauldron>, where the Olympic Flame burns during the games.

A floating disk, divided into pie wedges, with every colour of the rainbow taking its turn in each spot, approaches you. You step on, and are carried away... by the time you're able to hop off, you find yourself in
Jellicle Fields - Winter Wonderland (Activities Area)(#8569RLJ)
This section is a bit more hilly than the rest of Jellicle Fields. Looking around, you can see that this area is devoted to all sorts of snowy fun! There seems to be a place for every sort of chilly recreation.
Taking up a good deal of the flat space is a large pond, frozen completely over! It is divided into separate areas with barriers made of thick ice. One section is set up for ice skating, so you can practice your leaps and figure eights. Another section is set up for hockey, with some bleachers for viewing the action. Lastly, off away from the rest of the action, are places for ice fishing. You note one large shed is set up with a sign that reads "Reserved for Borris".
The pond isn't the only body of water here. A short trek away is a series of hot springs. These small round pockets of water bubble and steam, giving off the smell of peppermint. In the center of the various little springs is a large bonfire, perfect for drying off, toasting marshmellow (which are provided fresh each day from the mellow marsh), and singing carols around. Growing around the fire are a series of what look like apple trees. Once again, these are not ordinary apple trees, but are growing...apple pies! Under the apple pie trees are bushes growing little chewy fruit-flavored candies in the shape of fish.
Past the hot springs is are some snowy hills, just perfect for sledding! Several sledding paths have been marked out, some slow and easy, others fast and exciting. One large hill has a long, winding track with several turns and twists. Signs leading to the entrance of the track read "Bobsledding / Otter Slide" What fun!
Atop one large, flat-topped hill is an area devoted to snow-play! One area seems to be set up for making winter art, from simple snowmen (or cats or foxes or raccoons...) to elaborate ice sculptures. Another area is designated as the snow wars battlefield! Plenty of raw material for making snowballs and snow forts, with plenty of rocks and trees for taking cover behind! A large ice barrier encloses this area, so stray snowballs don't hit non-combatants. Lastly, there is the start of a cross-country ski trail for those who wish to get some exercise and view the lovely winter sights.
There is also a small restaurant here. A sign on the building proclams it as 'The Snack Shack!'

Subject: Olympic Biathlon (rescheduled)

It's custom for me to try to run at least one 'traditional winter Olympics' event during one of these, so I am once again going to run a Biathlon. It will combine a cross-country skiing segment with a shooting segment. The former will be a partly RP and partly dice-driven format, and the latter will use the Shooting Gallery program. It will take place at 6 pm on Sunday, February 22.

Because people will have to do some writing on the fly (it won't be possible to entirely pre-write because of the random elements), this may run a bit longer. I will try to adjust the format based on the number of attendees.

Due to a conflict, I have had to change the date for this event. It will take place prior to Closing Ceremonies on Sunday.

Vahno scoops up some snow, packs it and tosses it at Niny.
( Flags are set out to mark the edges of a cross-country skiing course. It wends its way across the snowy landscape, across gentle hills. There are three major obstructions that skiers will encounter along the way: first there is a rugged, rocky outcropping that will have to be traversed, second there is a section of dense evergreen forest with low-hanging branches and snowy shrubs, and finally near the finish line there is an icy pond, lightly dusted with powdered snow. )
Mako Slides up to the starting line. "I'm used to wet conditions and less snow.... here's hoping this doesn't turn into a boondoggle.... (It is absolutely going to. :x)
Niny'ah gets sealed into a black tech hexsuit.
BunnyHugger says, "How this works: there will be two phases, the first being cross-country skiing and the second being shooting. During the skiing phase, you must actually be skiing on your feet or whatever appendages you normally perambulate with. Your skis should be (mostly...) on the ground. No flying! So you know, just try to use good sportsmanship here and be reasonable about it. >:)"
Niny'ah buckles on skis. she's shifted back to her own shape for this.
Patashu gets in position, comically undersized Dragonite wings wiggling, tense.
[OOC] Moriar's legs are very small, and unsure how to play that, "Ostensibly Moriar should take a couple orders of magnitude longer to complete any ground based race."
Bleu skies over to the starting line. "I'm ready. Eat my dust, y'all."
[OOC] BunnyHugger says, "Maybe we can overlook if Moriar's wings are 'assisting' them."
[OOC] Patashu grins, "I would be fine with it."
You wroo, "Where are you going to get dust on an alpine mountain?"
[OOC] BunnyHugger says, "Just, like, we'll have you be low to the ground and fakin' it."
Mako says, "Snowpowder?"
Moriar looks to BunnyHugger, "What if I am aboard someone who is skiing? Does the transitive property work?"
BunnyHugger says, "I suppose if you want to team up with someone that way, you're already kind of your own team so it's not really any different."
[OOC] BunnyHugger says, "Each round, each skier will write ONE pose. After all have finished, the judge will assign an order from best to least-best, to the performance of skiers in the previous round. This can be based on anything the judge chooses but suggested criteria are creativity, artristry, plausibility, and fun factor. TWICE, the judge may choose to assign a catch-up bonus to any one player. The catch-up bonus will result in the chosen racer instantly catching up to the racer immediately ahead of them. Meanwhile, I will also be rolling a die which will randomly determine an additional speed factor. Between each round, I will be providing a commentary, and skiers will be told their current position relative to other skiers so that they can react to this information and effectively RP the next round! Skiers will also be told when they have reached a given landscape feature (rocks, trees, pond) so they can respond to this in the next pose."

That goes for both skiers and judges. Also I need to get up early tomorrow and would appreciate things moving quickly."
BunnyHugger says, "Once the skiing has finished, we will all go to the Shooting Range for part 2 and I will explain that segment when we get there."

BunnyHugger looks to the referee, "Ready?" Then to the skiers, "Take your marks!"

Austin grabs a bag of chips from the Roofrigerator.

Moriar nods to BunnyHugger, "I am ready!"
[OOC] Bleu says, "Hmm, I gotta go afk for about 5 minutes in a little bit, too, but I'll try to be as fast as I can."
Niny'ah shakes her legs out. "Reaedy."
Bleu nods. "I'm ready."
BunnyHugger says, "On your marks... get set... go! {{Skiers, write your first pose setting out from the starting line! At this point the ground is mostly level snow.}}"
Patashu does something cheeky to get started. You can see he's turning his head over his shoulder, charging something up... and with a *BWOOOSH* a quick fired hyper beam launches into the air (disrupting a cloud formation slightly) for an accelerated headstart, suddenly racing along on his skis as he brings his head back into position and hunches forward!
Moriar holds the strips of paper with 'skis' written on them firming in their beaks as the gryphons flap vigorously and tumble across the snow in the manner of biblically accurate skiers.
Mako puts her ski poles down! She's... uh... not actually good at this, but she has strong upper arms, and gets herself going forward in a somewhat jerky drive across the snow, arms using the poles as they're meant to, pulling herself forward, legs back and forth like a steady, jerky exercise machine. The problems will come later! ..... just don't ask her to, say, stop. Or turn. Or....
Niny'ah kicks off with a push from her ski pole,s, trying to gauge the snowpack - hard, soft, powder... it turns out to be heavy and sticky, and she ends up having to herringbone-step out from the line, trying not to overextert right from the start! This is a stamina race after all.
NBC gets some footage of the beautiful landscape, camera turning with him on top of it, then points it at the skiers as they set out.
Bleu pushes off with his ski-poles, and launches forward across the snow. "Hmm, I wonder if I'll be disqualified if I activate the jet-engines on my skies..." He shrugs, and waits to press that button till he's well away from the starting line. As he spies Patashu shooting by, he says, "Oh hell." He presses a pred button on his right ski-pole, and WHOOSH, he starts skiing forward at a break-neck pace, kicking up snow in his wake. "YAH-HOO-HOY!" Just like Goofy. (You know the sound.)
[OOC] Niny'ah says, "It Snewing here"
PatchO'Black sets out the last of the souvenir caps.
BunnyHugger gets on her announcer microphone, excitedly commentating!
BunnyHugger says, "They're off! Patashu and Niny'ah are neck and neck, with Bleu coming on them quickly Mako just behind Bleu! Moriar are making a valiant effort but are bringing up the rear! {{Skiers may now write their next move!}}"
Patashu pulls up alongside Niny'ah and grins! He's apparently using the self-imposed restriction of 'hovering, flying or jet engines is cheating but anything else is just using your body cleverly'. He wants to save his energy for now, so he's just going to cruise... but if Niny'ah falls behind a little, he absolutely *will* move in front to cut her off with big dragonite body.
Niny'ah hears the Goofy Holler and looks back, Oh Heck. She scrambles sideways in that awkward 'hurrying on skis' way, with a funny-looking high-step gait. "Pata! Watch your back!"
Patashu, in fact, does NOT try to cut Niny'ah off. He's instead gawking and looking over his shoulder at Bleu!!
[OOC] Patashu says, "(I know you said one post per round but a little bit of a reaction seems in the spirit)"
Bleu is still screaming like a banshee as his literal jet-skis send him careening forward, approaching the two figures in front of him at a frightening pace. "Oh heck, outta the waaaaay!" He starts waving an arm frantically, which causes the squirrel to veer toward Patashu, and he can't get his skis to turn off again! "MAAAAKE WAAAAAAY!"
[OOC] BunnyHugger says, "If you want to interact a little that's fine, just wanted people to know Austin will judge as soon as he sees something from everyone so he'll probably consider your first one your 'main' pose."
[OOC] Patashu aite!
[OOC] Niny'ah says, "'talking is a free action' rules of sorts?"
Mako is doing her best to keep on the ground. This going to be haaaard. o.o But she blinks as she sees Bleu scream past...... quite literally, in this case! BunnyHugger grabs the microphone excited. "Wow! This is going to be really close all the way, I can see that! Mako has caught up and it's now too close to call between Mako, Niny'ah, and Patashu! Bleu looks to be just behind but it's a close one! Moriar are... doing their best but at some distance! All except Moriar are currently coming up on the first major terrain obstacle, the rocky segment. This rocky outcropping is going to require them to use caution and also more exertion to get over it! How will they handle it???

[OOC] BunnyHugger says, "Yes I had to change the time and move it earlier so that I could avoid preempting closing ceremonies if possible."

Athares sees- he'll be settling in to spectate. Ah well, the slope shall remain!
Patashu is almost too distracted gawking at Bleu catching up to be ready for the rocks up ahead! Ack! While he swerves out of the way to give the rocketeer room, he's coming up on his first rock... He braces himself for impact, and gets sent flying, coming down landing with a THUMP of both skis, wobbling a little bit! @wo: That could have gone better...
( The rocky segment is a rugged group of boulders which will require some climbing and could be perilous! )
Moriar slides to a short stop to regard the rocky segment, then simply trotting along between the rocks. The gryphons continue to hold the pieces of paper in their beaks, striving to qualify for the event.
Niny'ah takes a moment at the start of the rocky section to step to one side and pull a set of rubber caps out of her pocket and wedge them onto the tips of her ski poles for safer control as she high-steps into the rocks, taking every step with 3 or 4 cautious test pokes with her ski poles to be sure that they're not going to suddenly shift under her weight. She's hugging to one side where the rocks are smaller, but so are the gaps between them, requiring extra care; it's easy to see why: She keeps glancing back at the careening Bleu!
Mako whoops. Okay, rocks! Problem, problem! She is now going At Speed. Slowing down is NOT an option. First, she hits the small ones, and rumbles along making a noise not unlike a cantaloupe in a tumble dryer. *thunkatythumple* Then the bigger rocks are in the way. She leeeans to one side, then to the other, narrowly missing several rocks. Then... hooboy, big rock in the way! She takes one ski pole and spikes it into the ground for pivoting, and ends up going around and around comically for a moment, before pinballing off around the boulder at an angle... and right off a few more. From above, it might look like a vigorous pinball game. .... please don't let there be a multiball..... She does eventually come out the other side, looking a little worse for wear. @.o
NBC zooms in on the action at the rocks. He squawks to himself with apparent excitement.
[OOC] Bleu says, "I'm back!"
[OOC] Bleu says, "Catching up."
[OOC] Austin says, "That's for me to decide, thank you."

'Voksa falls asleep.
'Voksa wakes up.
Bleu narrowly misses colliding with Patashu, but then he sees the rocky outcropping. "Oh shiiiii...AHHHHHHHHHHH!" The squirrel screams again as the jet-skis hit the first rock, sending the terrified rodent soaring into the air, fully three feet off the ground for a terrifying 30 seconds, then *WHAM!* he slams into the rocks, and shoots along with a very rocky, bumpy and bone-rattling ride, almost totally out of control and clinging to his poles for dear life.
[OOC] Patashu says, "the toon logic of 'carefully navigate through vs just full send it' on display here..."
BunnyHugger says, "Whoa! This has been a lot of action!"
PatchO'Black gets BunnyHugger a beverage as she ccommentates.
Vahno says, "...Oh dear. Do we have a medic on staff?"
Austin says, "After the second round, Vahno, when we give everyone guns."
BunnyHugger says, "Niny'ah has made a huge gain as her competitors have come to trouble in this section and she's now got a clear lead coming out of the rocky segment and heading into the woods! Patashu was slowed down but recovered and has also cleared the rocks, behind Niny'ah! Mako is now in the third position, Bleu is in fourth and what's this???? Moriar is still in back but is gaining significant ground with their slow and steady strategy! {{Niny'ah, Patashu and Mako are heading into the forest, Bleu and Moriar aren't quite there yet. The evergreen forest is dense and there is no straight path through it so you will have to weave around trees and possibly avoid being hit in the head with branches! Skiers write your next move!}}"
PatchO'Black gets out the rare souvenir soft body armor...

Patashu thinks about using another hyper beam blast to speed up but - no, the forest is going to be real tricky. He's a big guy so he has to take every turn extremely carefully. Leaning left, leaning right, occasionally bashing or bumping up against a branch or trunk. >wo: He's trying to keep away from Niny'ah and Mako to not make matters even worse...
Mako is now slightly wobbly but still making progress forward, using whoever is in front of her as a path-clearer whenever possible. It's not the fastest process, but it IS probably the safest until we get a nice straightaway..... She manages to avoid wallsplatting around any large trunks, but she is not nearly as lucky when it comes to the low hanging branches. *paft* >.< *Paft* @.@ *Paft* uwu *Paft* -x- *Paft* Q.Q
Moriar appears a bit excited as they approach the forest, going so far as to leap up and bound about across the branches. The gryphons seem to be excited to have an opportunity to get some skiing time off the ground, still firmly holding the pieces of paper in their beaks. The path may not be the swiftest, but it is the one that Moriar prefers.
Niny'ah hm. hah. This should work well. She's been methodical and precise thus far, and sees no reason to change that now! She takes the rubber caps off her ski poles and sets off in that awkward high-step of cross-country skiing , Even as large as her stature is, she's still smaller and more agile than Patashu, and this lets her make good time, slicing thorugh openings the much wider dragonite could never hope to fit through. However, she has it even worse than mako, because 'well cleared' for the nekomata is chin-height on her! "Gah!!" Remember Athares's tactic with his Snowtrapped trees in snowball? Yeah, This is going to happen to her. Several times.
[OOC] Patashu says, "Total Moriar Victory incoming"
Bleu wishes Patchy had given him some body armor. He hits another rock, going airborne for a second time, yelling all the while, and then slams back into the snow, looking up to see the rocks are thinning out... Only to be replaced by trees. "Oh, son of a...." He starts frantically mashing the button on his pole, trying to shut off his jet engines, finally sighing happily when they start sputtering out. He bobs and weaves around the bigger trunks, but luckily the squirrel is fairly short, so he misses most of the branches, too.
BunnyHugger bangs her paw on her announcer's table with excitement. "Niny'ah still has the lead but Patashu is nearly caught up! It's too close to call between Mako and Bleu... but what's this? Incredible! MORIAR HAS CAUGHT UP AND PASSED MAKO AND BLEU!!!! Niny'ah, and Patashu have made it out of the woods but now Mako hasn't made it out yet, and Bleu and Moriar are also head through the trees! {{Skiers, write your next line! No one has quite made it to the frozen pond yet but Niny'ah is very close to it!}}
Patashu aha! A nice straight stretch up ahead! Patashu (making sure to aim it nice and high so none of the other skiiers are in the way) fires another quickfire hyper beam over his shoulder for an immediate burst of speed! Though he gets pushed down firmly, crouching, legs wobbling at awkward angles before he stabilizes himself to try and maintain as much as possible without falling over! Whoo!
BunnyHugger further clarifies, "Mako and Bleu are seemingly tied as far as I can see into those woods but Moriar has pulled just ahead of them!"
Moriar's expressions seem less enthusiastic as the gryphons return to ground level to continue bounding along across the snow. Upon transition to the frozen pond, Moriar stumbles into belly flops across the ice with vigorous flapping to provide thrust as the gryphons hockey puck themselves across the pond with a cloud of dusted snow in their wake.
Niny'ah is visibly puffing with the effort of keeping up her speed, deflecting branches, and trying not to get distracted with the other competitors. She can see the frigid glint of the frozen pond up ahead through the trees, promising to be Fast but Perilous.
Mako continues to slalom her way through the trees, albeit now at a bit of a punch-drunk tilt. She slides left around one tree, right around another, and then *Whack* A low hanging branch clobbers her. She slows but does not stop. "...and that's a red card for machester..." she mumbles, before shaking her head loose. What's a little head trauma when you're on the go? But she does use this opportunity to re-align and launch herself forward once again.... THIS time keeping her head down!
Bleu crouches down, taking a more aerodynamic stance as he relies on his arm power to get him the rest of the way through the forest. He can't see anyone else, he just keeps propelling himself forward, dodging trees and skiing under the branches like a small, stealthy creature. But around this time his jet-engines start sputtering back to life, and he groans. "Oh dear, not again..." He suddenly shoots forward through a straightaway, managing to dodge trees, but rapidly gaining speed as he can't get the jets to turn off again.
[OOC] PatchO'Black sighs. "I'm sorry, folks. I'm going to need to call it a night. I wish could stay up to see the closing, but I need to rest."
[OOC] Patashu says, "Good night"
[OOC] Mako says, "Bed well"
[OOC] PatchO'Black hugs all!
PatchO'Black takes out his calico flute and play a short tune, taking him away...

BunnyHugger says, "Wow, this is getting tighter again! Niny'ah maintains a short lead over Patashu as they head onto the ice! This could be a very dangerous segment... a chance to use the ice to 'skate' and add speed, but also a chance to lose control and wipe out! Moriar has a nose... or three noses... ahead of Mako as they start on the ice. Bleu is now trailing by several lengths and hasn't quite made it to the final icy stretch yet! {{It's pretty much guaranteed that Niny'ah is going to finish this turn and probably Patashu. One or two others may also! Everyone is getting close to the finish line which is just after the pond... anything could happen on that ice so have fun writing your next line! Go for it!}}"
BunnyHugger says, "They're approaching the finish, I expect to see people using all their reserves!"

Patashu aha! Here we go! Minimum friction. MAXIMUM SPEED. He spins right around, facing backwards on the ice... and with a BWOOOOOOOSHHHH he fires his hyperbeam backwards and into the air! Going faster, faster...! But he overestimates how hard he's pushing himself down in the process, or how much he's heating up the ice. It starts to crack, weaken, melt... *SPLOOOOOSH!* In he goes! He's going to do his best to swim to shore and climb out and resume, but that's a serious time loss.
Moriar transitions from pond back onto ground based snow leading into the finish line as a resumption of their biblically accurate tumblewings again, flop-flap-rolling across the snow in a flurry of inelegance and feathers across the line.

Niny'ah sets her stance Way Down Low to get more stability; she knows ice Too Well to take chances with her height, even though she pushes off with her ski poles to build up some speed; it's risky but she's trying to keep ahead of Patashu's ... Heck. Fuckit we ball. She pumps her poles against the ice, blowing foggy breaths to rival Patashu's mawcannon, nostrils flaring as she tries to keep the dragonite from blasting past her!
[OOC] Patashu says, "you missed nothing, NBC"
NBC waves a foot to Patashu.
Mako iiiiiceeeee.... She keeps going. She cna't stop. No, really. She can't stop. If she stops it might be unpleasantly cold. What she IS doing, however, is leaving a dangerous serious of cracks behind, having to skirt AROUND the massive hole Pata made. .oO (Ohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrap). She puts her poles down for more speed. She may actually be hydroplaning at this point, depending on how thick the ice is. Or isn't! o.o She is also more or less nose-down for least wind resistance....
[OOC] Austin says, "Bleu? Are you in there?"
Bleu isn't giving up that easily, and with the jets sputtering back to life he makes a fateful decision. He flips a switch on the left pole, marked [LUDICROUS SPEED], and with another loud yell the skis zoom forward out of the forest, across the snow, toward the ice, with no real way to control his trajectory, but it's a risk worth taking to pass Mako at the very least. He's taken a low profile, and then skids across the ice, which makes ominous cracking noises in his wake, not helped by the jet exhaust. He's coming up on Patashu's hole, and with what little control he can maintain he sticks a pole down to skirt around it, but the ice is still cracking dangerously all the way. But he's shooting toward Mako's rear and trying to ignore all the ice cracking he can hear.
BunnyHugger says, "Here they come toward the finish line!"
BunnyHugger says, "Niny'ah has maintained a clear lead going across the line! Patashu, despite a setback costing them gold, has scrambled out and into second..."
Patashu whews. That was scarily close to blowing it all just to try to secure first. @w@
BunnyHugger says, "Despite a slow start Moriar will take home bronze!"

Shooting Range(#23942RC)

A long grassy meadow amid the trees is home to the Olympic Shooting Range. At the eastern end of the range are the shooter's stations, little grassy pits with a footpath behind them. A sign by each station bears an identifying number, and red and yellow pennons wave in the breeze between each station. These are both decorative and practical, helping the shooters gauge the wind as they flutter.

Along one side of the range is a covered wooden grandstand, with red and yellow bunting decorating the roof and front wall. One end of the grandstand features a large glass <tank> to accomodate dolphins, seals, mermaids and other aquatic people.

At the far end of the range are the targets, with a tall grassy berm behind them for a backstop. Some wise guy has painted body outlines on the grass with groundskeepers paint. A last-minute mowing has subdued the outlines to some extent, although they remain visible.

N.B. Items and places marked with <pointy brackets> can be looked at.

The sunless sky slowly turns orange and purple in the cool, still air. It's getting on 5 pm in a sense.

Moriar performed to their own precise specifications and design, visibly proud.
BunnyHugger says, "Thanks everyone for participating. I always like to do at least one more 'traditional' winter Olympics event and biathlon is one of my staples though I've run it a couple of different ways."

BunnyHugger says, "I liked how this worked out this time and will probably use it again in the future."

A floating disk, divided into pie wedges, with every colour of the rainbow taking its turn in each spot, approaches you. You step on, and are carried away... by the time you're able to hop off, you find yourself in
Olympic Stadium(#23930RLC)
From inside, it's obvious that the stadium was grown from a bush. The entirety of the structure, the walls, the hallways, the seats, are made of wood covered with smooth durable bark. The branches of the crown bend inward over the stadium, shading it from the snow and cold. Educational <plaques> here and there discourse upon the botanical nature of the stadium.

The stadium is currently leafless for the winter season, but the dense wood provides reasonable insulation against the cold outside.

At south end of the field, separate from the shrub, a cantilevered lighting <tower> rises, gleaming white, narrowing as it leans out over the stadium. The lighting head is a large oval, centred over the field, too bright to look at when it's lit. At the other end is the <cauldron>, where the Olympic Flame burns during the games.

Austin says, "Sounds good to me. So, there's enough players we'll do this as a bracket tournament, each round a best-of-three. Anyone else want to join in? I'm hoping to finish within 90 minutes."
Vahno sticks his tongue out. "You're hoping. You'd be afraid to face me."
Austin says, "OK, 60 second countdown to anyone wanting to join in or back out."
Athares looks to Enixi, Vahno, clasps his hands behind his back. "The only way to turn this into a game of skill is if you -both- cheat. Make of that what you will."

From inside, it's obvious that the stadium was grown from a bush. The entirety of the structure, the walls, the hallways, the seats, are made of wood covered with smooth durable bark. The branches of the crown bend inward over the stadium, shading it from the snow and cold. Educational <plaques> here and there discourse upon the botanical nature of the stadium.

The stadium is currently leafless for the winter season, but the dense wood provides reasonable insulation against the cold outside.

At south end of the field, separate from the shrub, a cantilevered lighting <tower> rises, gleaming white, narrowing as it leans out over the stadium. The lighting head is a large oval, centred over the field, too bright to look at when it's lit. At the other end is the <cauldron>, where the Olympic Flame burns during the games.

You sit on a street luge (it resembles a long skateboard) and zip directly there!

The northern lights shine like rainbow curtains in the sky, turning the landscape of snow and ice into technicolor neon.

An open park-like area mirrors the idylls of greeting cards and children's books with fluffy white snow, a glassy frozen pond suitable for ice skating. A elliptical courtyard of sorts has been cleared an de-iced for safe and easy walking, though its pavement is a flat, milky crystal that might be mistaken for ice. At one focus on the ellipse is a crackling fire pit set about with skewers of marshmallows, meat, vegetables, or fruit for roasting. At the other focus a fountain of transparent quartz flows with super-cooled water, decorating itself and any object held in the spray with a shining coat of rime in floral and geometric figures.

All around are evergreen trees glossy and richly colored with health as well as smaller, including holly bushes with bright red berries. More exotic plants grow among them, including the [firesap] tree, its fruit hanging like iridescent globes encasing pale, swirling flame.

Behind the courtyard is what looks like a castle built to a grand scale from ice, its pointed spires glistening in the aurora.

As one moves out from the center, the forest grows denser and darker.
Bright light completely fills in the cool, sunless sky, illuminating much frost. Call it 8 am, 'solar' time.

Subject: Spindizzy Mizer (Winter Olympics)

Santa Claus has taken the season off sick, but the snow and festivities must go on! That's where you come in. Subbing in for Spindizzy's Snow Miser, you'll be petitioned by Mrs. Claus to make a snowstorm. Of course, no musical is complete without a song and dance entry... Or will things go as planned?

This is, of course, inspired by a scene in The Year Without a Santa Claus [1974] by Rankin/Bass Productions ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEbFfoBPfw4 ), as well as the copious icesnort 'Smiser' riffs on the scene that subvert expectations in a variety of YTP styles, music videos and cross-references, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/@icesnort/videos

The event will take place Sunday 15th February 2026, 6:30 pm server time. The format is as follows: Pre-write up to three posts (or any equivalant amount of text) about your performance as Spindizzy's Snow Miser. You can play it straight or subvert it in any way you desire, from the conventional to the avant garde. Your performance will be judged on whichever criteria you're aiming to maximize out of [comedy, musical performance] and medals will be awarded to the winners.

( A single Kobold sits in a barcalounger chair, facing the stage-area, holding a remote control. Up on stage, the show begins, started with the traditional beginning: "Here she comes now, the big ham." Appearing on stage is... Mako! Wearing a slinky blue number, like a Jessica Rabbit dress only in blue with glittery frost sequins. Her hair has been sent back to its native white and her naturally pale cream fur works to her advantage here. She starts with the normal song, albeit in sufficiently sultry and modified form. "o/~ I'm Mistress White Christmas, I'm Lady snow! I'm Mistress Icicle... I'm Lady Ten-below! Friend's call me Snow Miser~ Whatever I touch... Turn's to snow in my clutch! I'm too much! o/~" She has Pooka backup singers, with tiny straw hats.. "o/~ She-miser snow christmas... o/~" .oO(Really shoulda gone for the kobold backup singers...) As she does so, she snaps up a prop, and it POOFs into confetti-snow. Then, the kobold in the chair raises the remote... )
( Click. The song and dance continues, albeit now with a large flashing <Soy En Espaniol!> Notice. For reasons unknown, everyone is now wearing sombreros.... "Soy la señora Avaro de Nieve..." Clearly, this is not maintaining the Kobold's attention, as it clicks the remote again. Now everything appears to be poorly bitcrushed spriteworks on a flat page. "I never want to know a day a day that's over 40 degrees.. I'd rather have it 30, 20-10-5, then let it freeeeeeeeeeeee*Computer Error Donk* A popup declares that the CPU is suffering heating issues.... Click. Now, a giant Blue Robot is duking it out with a flamethrower-wielding red one. The subtitles read about how the Ice Battler MI-ZR combats the evil Flame Robot, though the actual lyrics appear to be waxing philosophical about the nature of love. A kobold quickly sprays down the curtains before they go up in flames. )
Patashu giggles through a claw
Niny'ah facepalms, laughing
( This gets to about where one might declare it "Too much" before the Kobold begins to lose focus again. The Chairbold peers at the stage, and decides that this is not sufficient. It twists the dial on the remote all the way to the end, past 9000, and clicks the button. The music shifts as the remote clicks again, switching to an unmistakable drum intro. Mako is now wearing a pantsuit. There is a brief musical sting and then "Never gonna-" She gets no further before a giant billhook pulls her offstage. A kobold hurriedly drops the curtain. "Shut it down, shut it down, she's gone meta-memetic!" Whoops, guess that's it for this run... eventually a now-detoxed Mako staggers out and flops facefirst into the snow. )
Athares smirks, tailswish.
Niny'ah says, "Where'd you get the sombreros?"
Patashu kehehehe. "Good show, good show."
Athares leans forward, rubbing his forehead. Hey technically not a facepalm... he's still smirking. And he applauds. "Thank you!"
Patashu claps! "While we douse the stage, Tss'Renia may get ready!"

Mako says, "Discount Mariachi Warehouse." As if this is an answer to Niny,."

Tss'Renia cordons off an area with signs, strings, tape, and more signs. "Danger, orbital bombing in progress". Shield generators are brought in to protect the audience. A massive ball of plasma hits the middle of the secured area. Once the dust settles, silver goo and white plasma start the process of terraforming. A simple stage is made, with stairs, along with massive monoliths in the back of the stage, left and right. Strange speakers those are. A few camera drones are flown into position.

Two marten creatures take the stage. One holding an Electronic Wind Instrument, held close with a neckstrap, and the other holding a microphone. They each have a hologramic tag indexing them 0 and 1 respectively. The backdrop of the stage illuminates as a giant screen focused on the performers, from the camera drone feeds. Aurora martens start fluting and singing (in a marten accent) along to Snow Miser from the 1974 movie "The Year Without a Santa Claus". "I'm Mister White Christmas, I'm mister Snow, I'm mister Icicle..." At that moment, the columns emit the sound of an E7 chord from an electric guitar, and start producing snow and wind in blizzard conditions. "Ack!", the Martens rush off stage while the snow obscures it. "I'm Mister White Christmas!", a squirrelish voice calls out to the audience. Aurora the squirrel, indexed 0, stands visibly on a raised platform held up by chains. The snow dies down quickly around the squirrel, revealing two guitarists standing on the rectangular columns. On the ground floor, 128 dancers, bracketed by two drummers, each with their own massive drum set.

"Let me say it again!", and she starts singing, "I'm Mister white Christmas". The song took an industrial metal sound to it, with the two guitars and two drummers putting a heck of the spin on the traditional song. The dancers also provide the chorus, sixty-four of them facing the other sixty-four while the one in the middle takes the role of Snow Miser. "Whatever I touch...", the speakers blast snow towards the audience, "I'm too much!". The guitars take a turn at having a polyphonic dual after the supporting dancers reply to Snow Miser, one squirrel is thrown off stage during the act, and the drums follow up with their own polyphonic dual on the next round. "Then let it freeze!" Freeze the audience does as the speakers project/materialize snow and sleet off the stage. Blizzard conditions start again, and the sound dies out.

Aurora the martens, 0 and 1, reassert their presence on the stage when the storm promptly dies down. The squirrels have all disappeared. The martens resume with their more traditional performance. "Friends call me Snow Miser, whatever I touch, turns to snow in my clutch", the squirrels out of view, finish in chorus "Too much!"

The martens exit the stage, and the stage is reprogrammed into the shape of a giant squirrel, leaving the area blank again.

Athares waves to Pata and- actually he probably was sitting atop Pata the whole time anyway. So he'll scoot a bit nearer Pata's head.

You whisper, "I'm also not entirely certain. So what's your snap judgement? Then I'll reveal mine." to Athares.
Athares whispers, "I'll call it close, close. But in the spirit of the spirit, rather than material value alone, I'll stick with my first impression and say the gold goes to Mako." to you.
You whisper, "Patashu grins. "I also decided 'close, but I lean towards Mako'. So by a shared vibe it's decided!"" to Athares.
Patashu finishes concurring with Athares.
Athares smiles and pats Patashu on the nose.
You rumble, "We have a decision! We both thought it was close, but we both leaned towards giving Mako the Gold!"

Say and do things those in the same room can see.

ws

'WhoSpecies', summarizes everyone in the same room as you.

look
look x
lookat x y

`look` looks at the room you're in and shows you everything inside. `look x` shows you the description of an object, player or action you can see. `lookat x y` lets you read the description of a `y` in `x`'s inventory!

wa #dir

'WhereAre' lists public areas where people are congregating, and directions to get to those areas. Will also teach you about 't/teleport', 'rose' and 'luge'.

whisper x=y
page x=y

Tell `x` a message in private. The only difference is whisper requires you to be in the same room.

Teleport directly to people across long distances.

spoof x

Prints a message ( in brackets ) not tied to your character. Use `spoof #recent` to learn who did recent spoofs.
