Springboard Threat Part I

S5 W7 City Hall(#212RL)

     City Hall is a transparent, slightly dome wide-set at its base, with the swirling patterns of half-started spectrums swirling around the flimsy shell.  The shell itself seems almost to breathe, as it flexes in the breeze and the changes of the people around it.  A copper arch marks the most fixed spot and the easiest entrance to the hall.

     

     Around the globe a sparkling array of smaller globes cling to the exterior, each an office or a room or department, and these rooms swirl around as if to off-vertical ferrous wheels on a structure imitating a soap bubble.

     

     The park outside City Hall softly rises and falls, with spots of leaves and flowers of all colors popping into and out of being easily, and more rarely but still sometimes shrubs or bushes or even the odd tree makes it appearance, or exit, quietly but ever changing the light of the center.

        The clouds are white and puffy, huge rifts allowing in shafts of brilliance, seeming outlined in the air by a lingering mist.  It's 2:00 PM.

Tss'Renia shouts "There is a giant springboard from space coming to crash into SpinDizzy! Do you have a proposal to counter the springy threat? Come to City Hall to submit your proposal!"  (Public-shout)

Nina arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

Nina has arrived.

Patashu zooms in and screeches to a halt!  Street luging.

Patashu has arrived.

Elaraea arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

Elaraea has arrived.

Vahno arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

Vahno has arrived.

Tss'Renia sets up the mayoral mahogany table, and the tiny stool that could. It sits on the stool, creaking plaintively. The dragon uncaps a pen, writes the time and date. "I guess I was late to my own event, so, we can wait a bit for more people to come. Hopefully."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Whomst here has proposals?"

Patashu raises a claw. :3

Nina raises a paw.

'Mako arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

'Mako has arrived.

'Mako is really low energy, so may not be able to do much.

Tss'Renia awwr.

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Alright! Nina, let us hear your proposal!"

Nina nods, and steps up. "Okay, so. My idea is ... I handle it MYSELF!" She puts her hands on her hips, and smirks skyward, in the direction of the spring's trajectory. "WHEN HOPE IS G*gah*." She doubles over, and then flops facedown. "... releasing restraint level zero ... is still bugged out. I *can't* handle it myself."

Lightspill arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

Lightspill has arrived.

Nina says, "... in other news, ow."

Lightspill prowls in

Patashu winces at Nina.

Nina tailflicks.

Elaraea simultaneously winces, but also laughs at the dramatic timing.

Tss'Renia ouch.

Ping arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

Ping has arrived.

Ping bounces in.

Ping waves.

Tss'Renia offers first aid to Nina, with disinfectant, bandages, and a bunch of Fallout 4 Stimpack. "Thank you for your assitance, Nina. Patashu! You are next!"

Vahno picks up Nina and brushes her off.

Patashu ahems and walks up to the stage. Kobolds wheel up something under a tarp. Patashu dramatically throws off the tarp to reveal...! "Second springboard!"

Tss'Renia licks Ping and Lightspill, murmurs, "If you have any ideas of how to deal with the Springboard coming to crash into us, this is a proposal session. If you have any proposals, no matter how silly, we would love to hear them!"

Featherwing arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

Featherwing has arrived.

Tss'Renia wheezes like an asthmatic seal, "Go ooooon!"

Patashu sweats. "Isn't it obvious? We bounce the first springboard back into space with the second one?" He tugs at his collar, nervous.

Nina curls up, and perks at Patashu's proposal, giggling.

Tss'Renia .wavs, "How do we make sure we do not have TWO springboards come back to haunt us next year?"

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "... I withdraw my submission."

Lightspill grins toothily to Tss'Renia, "How about a vast and direful laser that would make a quasar despair?

Tss'Renia .wavs, "But I love your submission, Pata."

Lightspill says, "....is there anything important in front of or behind the springboard for a bew lightaeons?"

Vahno says, "...Uh..."

[OOC] Lightspill says, "*few"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Well, no, the squirrel ship got towed to Cornucopia, so it would be shooting into the blackhole."

Vahno says, "Shoot a giant 'Return to Sender' stamp at it?"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Vahno, I love your proposal!"

Vahno chuckles. "I just spat out the silliest thought that came to mind!"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Mako, Ping, Featherwing. Any silly proposals?"

Elaraea chokes a laugh!

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "...Are we going to have to pick one by the end of the hour and hope it works?"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Yes!"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "I am hoping to put them to a vote."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "My proposal was to have Nebula send a radiological warhead to explode it, but it carries the risk of having meteor showers."

Patashu oooh.

Nina makes a face.

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "Can I vote for that one owo"

Elaraea says, " *irradiated* meteors at that."

Ping hrms.

Tss'Renia .wavs, "We could pick an isotope that decays quickly, or just go for conventional warheads, just, more of them."

Nina says, "I like Lightspill's idea of firing a giant laser which then shoots directly into a black hole."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "One vote for Lightspill! Anybody else wants to cast a vote?"

Elaraea says, "... how would that help?"

,Kandra arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

,Kandra has arrived.

Tss'Renia .wavs, "For which project, Elaraea?"

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "You know what, I'll vote for Lightspill's idea too."

Elaraea says, "The laser into a black hole"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "I liked Vahno's idea, but I suspect the springboard will keep coming anyway. Patashu's idea is very cute and somehow like how we would be in twice as much trouble next year. I would like to vote for Lightspill's project, but I am curious to hear an answer to Elaraea's question. Lightspill?"

Tss'Renia looks over to Kandra, "Did you have any ideas how to counter the springboard threat?"

Lightspill says, "I vote for Patashu's idea, too."

,Kandra shakes her head.

Nina, curled up with some disinfectant, bandages, and Fallout 4 stimpacks (which she has not opened nor used), says, "Well, I mean ... we'd firing a turbo-overpowered laser *at* the springboard, and then the only thing beyond it is ..." She stops, looking uncertainly to Lightspill when they cast their vote, and shrugs.

Tss'Renia .wavs, "So far, three vote for Lightspill's project, and one vote for Patashu's project. Anybody else want to vote, any comments, questions, objections, threats, cheesecake?"

Vahno says, "I vote for mine."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Kandra, would you like to cast a vote? Do you need a recap on the four projects?"

'Mako shakes out, player has had shower, better brain. "... is there a reason we can't afterburner our rockets and jsut move out of the way? @.o

Nina looks to Mako. "Which is bigger? Spin, or the springboard?"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "That is a _solid_ suggestion."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "The springboard is smaller. It was built within PI's facilities, by Aurora, who wanted to launch a washing machine into space with a Planck Level Annihilator."

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "As one does."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Of course."

Nina nodnods.

'Mako says, "I admittedly also don't know how strong our gravity well is"

,Kandra stare.  "...  We should just catch it and melt it back down.  Or move out of the way if I have to vote for someone else."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Or I could make another Planck Level Annihilator, but I like your ideas better."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Another idea, build a pile of plushies where it is going to land, which is... Feedback."

Patashu gosh...

Lightspill says, "We could put a wormhole opening in front of the springboard and one behind it and while it's traversing the wormhole stick the ends together."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Now you are thinking with portals."

'Mako says, ".... okay, I like that."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Kandra's idea of catching it is pretty smart. We can have titans catch it and throw it back into the blackhole. That would make a nice idea for another event, maybe."

Nina hmms. "That seems like *another* method of releasing quasar-levels of light and energy, Lightspill!"

,Kandra says, "...doesn't anyone just have like a big gravity manipulator or something?"

Nina ooh. "... I could just ... portal, and do the return-to-sender thing. I've done that with missiles before ... or was it missiles?

Lightspill says, "...I like quasar levels of light and brilliance."

Lightspill says, "Though I think if you pull the knot tight you just end up pushing the springboard out of the universe rather than anything blowing up"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Alright, we have a bunch of bright ideas. The postman, the superman, the titans... man. Thinking with portals. Frigging lazers. Tow it. Move Spin out of the way."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Re-vote! Which one do you prefer?"

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "MMMMM. Plushie pile cute..."

Nina says, "... I can't decide!"

,Kandra mumbles, "Kicking it from the universe seems a lot like littering.  If we move out of the way it'll probably smish someone else in a billion years.  ...I think you're all making this too complicated."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Which idea do you prefer Kandra?"

,Kandra says, "Catch it with a tractor and melt it down.  But that was my idea, so, like."

,Kandra or, well, recycle it some other way.  Or whatever.

Elaraea points. She likes that plan

Tss'Renia .wavs, "It is a good idea, and we have tractor beams on hand. Or at least I do. We can take Lightspill's lazor and emit gravity manipulators instead of pulverising it and contributing to space dust."

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "Yeah, I'm down for that as well."

Tss'Renia scribbles down, "For the record, on a pure toony level, Vahno's idea tickles me to no end. But I so respect the high tech approach."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Lightspill, what do you think about using your space laver with my gravity manipulator tech?"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Laser*"

Lightspill says, "Oh, I think that's fine!"

Lightspill sings, o/~ Space Laser o/~

Nina sings, o/~ I'm stillll in a dream ... Space Laserrrrrr o/~

Lightspill . o O ( Space Laser is a /way/ better name than Rockstar Hawk. )

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Four votes for space laser. Any objections before we file this?"

Patashu rumblesqueaks, "Let's do this."

[OOC] Tss'Renia says, "Anybody interested in a follow up roleplay where we make that happen?"

Featherwing has disconnected.

'Mako says, "Space recycling. It's responsible!"

PatchO'Black arrives from elsewhere via the City Hall exit.

PatchO'Black enters, with Borris walking along next to him.

PatchO'Black mews, "Hi!"

Featherwing has connected.

[OOC] Patashu says, "I'd be down, good old fashioned spindizzy engineering. And maybe there'll be a complication!"

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Hello Patchy, Borris! We have all voted on a solution to deal with the springboard threat! We will use a big frigging space lazer to slow down the approaching springboard, stick a 'return to sender' label on it, and then melt it down to recycle it. Okay, the 'return to sender' label thing, it is because I am silly and like Vahno's idea too much. Also, the springboard threaten to crash into SpinDizzy. So it is a springboard from heck, and we are sending it back to heck."

Tss'Renia melts some wax over the decision document.

Patashu applauds!

Nina gigglesnickers.

Tss'Renia stamps it, "So say we all."

'Mako foreheadslaps. "We forgot one of the most obvious possible solutions. Ah well."

Borris pats PatchO'Black!

Lightspill says, "You know, that could be a campaign slogan"

PatchO'Black mews, "I would like to suggest, as a back-up plan, we get Borris a very large mallet."

Lightspill says, "Tss'Renia: To Heck With It!"

Tss'Renia giggles, "I think my speech was 'Keep SpinDizzy Weird'. What idea did you have, Mako?

'Mako says, "The obvious one was..."

Nina looks to Mako. "Oh?"

'Mako puts on a cap, produces a bat. From somewhere there emits a few bars of "Take me out to the ball game"

Elaraea is behind Mako with a catcher's mitt and face mask.

Borris tosses a ball to Mako!

[OOC] Patashu waves!

'Mako Crack! ... wait we're indoors aren't we. *Crashtinklecaralarm* "... oops."

Tss'Renia .wavs, "Nope, but that was the window to my office. Ah well. No worries."
