Spindizzy Winter Olympics 2026 Closing Ceremony

BunnyHugger shouts "The Closing Ceremonies for the Olympics will begin at the Olympic Stadium in 10 minutes.  It will be short and sweet!"  (Public-shout)
Austin steps onto a floating, rainbow-coloured pie wedge and is flown away toward the 'park' of the day.

Mako steps onto a floating, rainbow-coloured pie wedge and is flown away toward the 'park' of the day.

        A floating disk, divided into pie wedges, with every colour of the rainbow taking its turn in each spot, approaches you.  You step on, and are carried away... by the time you're able to hop off, you find yourself in 
Olympic Stadium(#23930RL)
From inside, it's obvious that the stadium was grown from a bush.  The entirety of the structure, the walls, the hallways, the seats, are made of wood covered with smooth durable bark.  The branches of the crown bend inward over the stadium, shading it from the snow and cold.  Educational <plaques> here and there discourse upon the botanical nature of the stadium.
 
The stadium is currently leafless for the winter season, but the dense wood provides reasonable insulation against the cold outside.
 
At south end of the field, separate from the shrub, a cantilevered lighting <tower> rises, gleaming white, narrowing as it leans out over the stadium.  The lighting head is a large oval, centred over the field, too bright to look at when it's lit.  At the other end is the <cauldron>, where the Olympic Flame burns during the games.

BunnyHugger says, "I chose this year's theme to remind us that play is something we should enjoy at any age, and that any activity we approach with the right spirit can be play."
Edris enters the Olympic Stadium.

Vahno steps off of the floating disk that carried him up.

BunnyHugger says, "I hope both the athletes and spectators have enjoyed playing with us this year, and that you will carry this renewed spirit of play with you even after the Olympic flame is put out at the end of this ceremony."

You wroo, "I always look forward to the Olympics, and I'm happy the tradition continues!"
BunnyHugger says, "First, I need to announce the results of the Literary and Artistic Competitions."

BunnyHugger says, "In the category of Short Fiction, we had two contestants: Mako of Team Mystics and Misfits, and Ranarp of Team Dragon."
BunnyHugger says, "I am delighted to report that the result was a tie, so both will receive a gold medal for Short Fiction.  Mako, if you would like to come up, I will present you with your gold medal."
Mako woo! She steps up
Patashu grins and claps!
BunnyHugger hands Gold Medal for Short Fiction (2026) to Mako.

BunnyHugger says, "In the category of Photography, there was only one contestant: me, for Team Rabbits and Rodents.  So I will receive the gold medal by default.  Sorry about that."
Mako says, "Well, this just will make me have to write more, you realize. :P"

Edris uh oh. Mako's havin' a BRAIN STORM.
( There is a gentle humming sound around the stadium, like a hive of bees, but not so loud as to drown anything out... still, it gets a bit more noticeable. )

( A screen comes down at the front of the stadium and on it there is a movie of some bees swarming. )

BunnyHugger says, "Now, my last ceremonial duty is to announce the individual and team winners for the 2026 Olympics."
BunnyHugger says, "The top medalist of this year's Olympics, determined by 3 points for gold, 2 for silver, and 1 for bronze... was Athares of Team Dragon."
Niny'ah applauds for Athares!
( The swarming bees on the screen suddenly arrange themselves to read 'ATHARES'! )

Austin says, "Well done!"
Mako says, "Team Dragon? O.o"

BunnyHugger says, "I apologize, in fact my records say Mystics and Misfits."

Athares perks, grins nice and big, standing up. "I'm with Mystics and Misfits, however!" Still, he bows, waving to the group. "Thank you all; I couldn't have medaled at all without all my friends... who made the event and competed against me to begin with!"

BunnyHugger says, "My records were correct, but it was a momentary lapse of memory!  I apologize for that."

Athares rubs his chin. "We didn't really have any team events, that's a missed potential. Maybe a thought for the next season."
Skyler is impressed there were this many long running teams.
BunnyHugger says, "Mystics and Misfits were also the participation winners, having participated collectively 18 times, followed by 17 for Dragons.  Quite a lot of activity there."
Skyler says, "I seem to remember at one point something like a 'posed relay race' being a team event."
You wroo, "Yeah we didn't have Dressage this time. Maybe nextlympics~"
Edris says, "I think Dressage is usually more of a summer thing?"
Bleu nods.
BunnyHugger says, "Yes, that's when I always run Dressage."
Austin says, "Yeah, this was more about wintery things like skiing and Boggle."
Niny'ah says, "Yeah, Dressage is a summer"
Austin says, "... and MST3K."
BunnyHugger says, "Thanks again to our event runners: Mako, Ranarp and Moriar, Mako, Patashu, and Austin.  I hope I'm not forgetting anyone."

BunnyHugger says, "Not sure how that happened, but anyway, I'm grateful to people for running so events because it takes the pressure off me when I don't have to try to be here EVERY night for two and a half weeks."

Patashu thumbs up. I use Olympics as a kind of time capsule of what motivates me these years and to see some creativity from our friends here. :3

BunnyHugger says, "I'm afraid it is now my bittersweet duty to bring our event to a close, but remember, the 'joy of play' can be found every day, if you approach things in the right spirit."

( The Olympic Flame goes out with a puff... but a bit of clever spotlighting makes it appear that instead it shrinks, and becomes a tiny point of light that jumps toward the bee. )
( The bee holds her front feet up, and 'catches' the point of light, now a small glowing ball, which she turns and carries away, as though bearing the Olympic flame in a tiny form back out of the stadium. )
