Spindizzy Winter Olympics 2026 Rock Paper Scissors

Somewhere on the muck, Austin has connected.
Belinda puts money in the idle meter.
Mako bleem.
Mako says, "So brain, what shall we do tonight?"
Belinda says, "Same thing we do every night."
Belinda says, "Try to take over the world!"
Patashu ooh.
Austin shouts "Ready for a recreational evening of throwing scissors, rocks, and other things?  Come on to the 'park' for Olympic Rock-Paper-Scissors!  The worst that can happen is someone puts a piece of paper on your paw!"  (Public-shout)
Patashu here we go!
        A floating disk, divided into pie wedges, with every colour of the rainbow taking its turn in each spot, approaches you.  You step on, and are carried away... by the time you're able to hop off, you find yourself in 
Olympic Stadium(#23930RLC)
From inside, it's obvious that the stadium was grown from a bush.  The entirety of the structure, the walls, the hallways, the seats, are made of wood covered with smooth durable bark.  The branches of the crown bend inward over the stadium, shading it from the snow and cold.  Educational <plaques> here and there discourse upon the botanical nature of the stadium.
 
The stadium is currently leafless for the winter season, but the dense wood provides reasonable insulation against the cold outside.
 
At south end of the field, separate from the shrub, a cantilevered lighting <tower> rises, gleaming white, narrowing as it leans out over the stadium.  The lighting head is a large oval, centred over the field, too bright to look at when it's lit.  At the other end is the <cauldron>, where the Olympic Flame burns during the games.

        You know what we haven't done in too long?  Have a Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament.  Join me in spectacular Olympic Stadium (luge S1 E10, m, f, s) Tuesday the 17th at 7 pm SpinDizzy time (Pacific) for an Olympic rock-paper-scissors tournament!  Rocks will be provided free of charge.

BunnyHugger says, "Yes."
You rumble, "Are we doing simultaneous rounds or one matchup at a time? And is this a trash talk yes or no tournament?"
Austin says, "All right, so, Morticon was good enough to write a MUF by which two competitors can throw their choice, and have both choices revealed simultaneously.  If you look at the Rock-Voila, or enter 'rps #help', you'll see what to do."

This is a two player game.  For instance, player one would type
'rps rock' and player two would type 'rps paper'

Austin says, "We'll allow trash talk, yes, but a spot of roleplay is what I'd really like to see.  That won't be judged, but will make the night more fun."
Patashu beams!
Austin says, "And no one is too late because I was just about to take signups.  Any other questions about the game?"
Vahno says, "Why is there no option to play a piece of paper that unfolds to show a drawing of a rock?"
You rumble, "I wanna see how your hand pulls THAT off."
BunnyHugger laughs.
Austin says, "You want to see how the most shapeshifter --- the shapeshiftest --- person on SpinDizzy does something weird with his paw, Patashu?"
You rumble, "...Retracted."
Vahno says, "Oh, it's simple."
Austin says, "OK, so, who wants to compete?  Give me a whisper and then I'll call roll."
Vahno reaches into his pocket and tugs out a folded piece of paper. That unfolds to show a drawing of a rock.
You rumble, "Alright, I'd like to..."

Vahno pounces Enixi!

Enixi dramatically leaps back from Vahno, looking smug~
Austin adds Niny'ah to the list.  "Are you representing any team, Niny'ah?"
Enixi chirps, "Takes one to know one, kupo~?"
Mako says, "Mystics and misfits!"
Athares perks? Nods to Enixi- and, smirks.
Austin says, "Odds are looking good for Mystics and Misfits."
Niny'ah says, "yes, Mystics and Misfits"
Athares says, "I think we're going to be competing more against each other at this point."
Niny'ah says, "ok what's the format? I think there've been a few tried."
Niny'ah says, "over the years"
Austin nods, "I want to see just how many competitors we have before setting whether brackets or round-robin."
Austin says, "Anyone else care to ion?  Vahno?  'Voksa?"
Austin says, "To join, that is?"
Featherwing enters the Olympic Stadium.
Featherwing has arrived.
Austin says, "And Featherwing, hi there.  Are you joining the competition?"
Vahno faceplants...
Vahno muffledly, "I'm in."
Austin says, "Great!"
Featherwing says, "Wnich is? Slightly nap fpggy."
Austin says, "Your team?"
Austin says, "Rock-Paper-Scissors, Featherwing."
Austin says, "We have a device to let both competitors throw without knowing what the other's doing, to reveal simultaneously."
Featherwing says, "Sure then for Dragon."
Austin says, "OK, you're in."
'Voksa says, "I will compete! For team Unnatural Monstrosities, of course."
Vahno pops up and peers around.
Austin says, "So what I have are: Athares, Mystics and Mysfits; Austin, Brazilian Dreams II; BunnyHugger, Rabbits and Rodents; Enixi, Independent; Featherwing, Dragon; Mako, Mystics and Misfits; Niny'ah, Mystics and; Patashu, Dragon; Vahno, Independent; and 'Voksa, Unnatural Monstrosities.  Anyone else?"
Patashu is not joining! Enixi is instead. (He's face buried in the ground and unresponsive.)
Austin ohs, OK.
Austin says, "Scratch Patashu, he's itchy."
Athares checks Patashu. Okay? Just snoozy? He'll leave Patashu be if all's well.
Patashu's leg twitches. Enixi looks pleased with himself. :3c 
Athares has his own magic to check with, just making sure it ain't permanent.
Vahno peers at Patashu... then whispers to Enixi. "So... what should we do with him?"
Enixi grins, "Once I WIN, I'll take him home as my prize... Hehehe~"
Mako oh my!
Vahno says, "Oh? What if I beat ya~?"
Enixi twirls his staff~ "Phah~ You're getting eliminated in round one to some shmuck~" :3c 
Austin says, "Sounds good to me.  So, there's enough players we'll do this as a bracket tournament, each round a best-of-three.  Anyone else want to join in?  I'm hoping to finish within 90 minutes."
Vahno sticks his tongue out. "You're hoping. You'd be afraid to face me."
Austin says, "OK, 60 second countdown to anyone wanting to join in or back out."
Athares looks to Enixi, Vahno, clasps his hands behind his back. "The only way to turn this into a game of skill is if you -both- cheat. Make of that what you will."
Austin says, "And then competitors will be randomly seeded."
Austin says, "10 seconds."
Enixi chirps, "Phah~ I don't NEED to cheat."
Austin says, "5 seconds."
Austin says, "And we are closed!"
Vahno sticks his tongue out at Athares, then turns back to Enixi. "If I win, you gotta build me a bot. And if you win... Hrm... I dunno,  you can take me too."
Enixi sticks tongue out. "I don't need you as a reward, kupo~"

Austin says, "Mako, Athares, when you're ready please come up to the Rock-Voila, and use 'rps rock' or 'rps paper' or 'rps scissors' to enter your throw.  Best of three decisive throws."
Austin says, "That's correct."
Vahno grabs Enixi's tongue.
Mako hokay! She steps up

Athares earflares, and hops on over. He swishes his tail, readies the count to three, conjures a light over his tail-fluff... on count, with a flare of light, he'll shift it into a hologram-esque shape right in front of Mako.

Athares steps down soon enough. To circle around and pat Vahno.
Austin says, "Now, to give Athares some time to recharge we'll go to the next round in quarterfinals.  BunnyHugger and 'Voksa, please step up!"
Austin says, "After that it'll be me versus Niny'ah, and after _that_ the big grudge match between Enixi and Vahno."
'Voksa perks eartennae and lopes over!
BunnyHugger lays her ears down to get her game face on.
Vahno leans on Enixi.
'Voksa sits upright to bow to BunnyHugger. "Hello, creature."
Enixi pet-pets Vahno.
Austin says, "Why does she have an Andy Rosa head lamp?"
Chitter says, "What?"

Enixi walks right past Vahno with a hipbump.
Athares perks. "Ah." Steps up, tailswish. "Is this the opposite of a bye or everyone else getting one?" He nods to Featherwing, readies his tail-o-gram.
Vahno huffs. "Guess I'm going with you..."

Austin says, "Yeah, bad luck of nine players in a head-to-head match."
Featherwing wigls his fingers and stretches. Still a little nap foggy, he prepares to throw.

Olympic Stadium(#23930RLC)
From inside, it's obvious that the stadium was grown from a bush.  The entirety of the structure, the walls, the hallways, the seats, are made of wood covered with smooth durable bark.  The branches of the crown bend inward over the stadium, shading it from the snow and cold.  Educational <plaques> here and there discourse upon the botanical nature of the stadium.
 
The stadium is currently leafless for the winter season, but the dense wood provides reasonable insulation against the cold outside.
 
At south end of the field, separate from the shrub, a cantilevered lighting <tower> rises, gleaming white, narrowing as it leans out over the stadium.  The lighting head is a large oval, centred over the field, too bright to look at when it's lit.  At the other end is the <cauldron>, where the Olympic Flame burns during the games.
